YMCA Alliance of Northern New England Issues RFP for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software Solution
March 25, 2025 – The YMCA Alliance of Northern New England has officially released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a new customer relationship management (CRM) software solution. This RFP represents a collaborative effort on behalf of 16 YMCAs across Maine and New Hampshire to identify a CRM platform to support critical areas of YMCA operations.

Keene Family YMCA Names Christy Sterbenz Filby as New Chief Executive Officer
KEENE, N.H. – The CEO Search Committee and the Board of Directors at the Keene Family YMCA announced the selection of Christy Sterbenz Filby of East Moline, IL, as incoming CEO, effective June 2, 2025. Sterbenz Filby succeeds Dan Smith, who stepped down in November 2024 to lead the Greater Burlington YMCA.

YMCA Alliance of Northern New England Secures Funding for Childcare Workforce Recruitment Initiative Benefitting New Hampshire YMCAs
January 23, 2025 – The YMCA Alliance of Northern New England has been awarded $265,684.50 to deploy a comprehensive, three-year marketing campaign designed to address the critical shortage of childcare workers across four counties (Belknap, Carroll, Cheshire, and Sullivan) in New Hampshire.

Bath Area Family YMCA and General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Launch Childcare Care Renovations
December 16, 2024 – The Bath Area Family YMCA and General Dynamics Bath Iron Works announced the start of renovations for a new childcare center near Cooks Corner Brunswick. The center, located at 6 Farley Road, is scheduled to open September 3 with 120 childcare slots set aside for the children of shipyard workers and additional availability for the broader community. Attending the event were representatives from Maine’s Congressional delegation, representatives from the U.S. Navy, state officials, staff and board members from the YMCA and shipbuilders from Bath Iron Works.

YMCA Youth Development Staff Recognized as CHART Awardees
November 15, 2024 – The YMCA Alliance of Northern New England proudly recognized three YMCA youth development staff members at the annual Northern New England Leadership Conference in Portland. Continuing a legacy established by the New Hampshire Governor’s Council on Physical Activity & Health, the Alliance presented the Character and Resilience Together (CHART) Awards to individuals exemplifying strong character and resilience in their work with young people.

Greater Burlington YMCA Names Dan Smith as Chief Executive Officer
October 25, 2024 – The CEO Search Committee and the Board of Directors at the Greater Burlington YMCA recently announced the selection of Daniel “Dan” Smith of Keene, New Hampshire, as incoming CEO, effective December 1. Smith joins the Greater Burlington YMCA with 30 years of experience at nonprofit organizations, including two YMCA locations — one in Cadillac, Michigan, and most recently in Keene, New Hampshire.

Bath Area Family YMCA & General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Announce Childcare Expansion Effort
September 2024 – The Bath Area Family YMCA is excited to announce a new partnership with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works (BIW) to expand access to childcare for Midcoast families. This partnership will provide 150 spaces to the children of BIW employees across two YMCA centers in Bath and Brunswick.

USDA Meets with YMCA Leaders to Discuss Summer Feeding Programs
July 2024 – The Y was pleased to showcase the impact of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) to representatives from the USDA in July. Meg Helming, COO of the YMCA Alliance, represented the Maine YMCAs at a USDA roundtable in Portland, ME with USDA-Food Nutrition Services Acting Under Secretary Kumar Chandran. They discussed the important role schools and community-based organizations like the YMCA play in feeding children during the summer months.

Sanford-Springvale YMCA Unveils New Childcare Classrooms
July 23, 2024 – On Tuesday, dozens of community members gathered at the Sanford-Springvale YMCA for a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new childcare center. Using a $250,000 Jobs Plan Child Care Infrastructure Grant provided through the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, the Sanford-Springvale YMCA built three new classrooms that will accommodate 46 additional children in its childcare program.
