2025 MAINE ADVOCACY PRIORITIES
FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
We believe that all youth deserve the opportunity to thrive. We envision a Maine where all families have access to affordable, high-quality childcare and youth programs that foster healthy development.
Priorities:
- Create a grant program to increase access to out-of-school time programming for at-risk and underserved youth.
- Expand mixed-delivery pre-K, which sets kids up to succeed and supports working parents and our economy.
- Strengthen the Childcare Affordability Program so more childcare providers and families can participate.
- Increase access to summer camp, which builds resilience and connection, develops young leaders, and supports mental and physical health.
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
We support holistic and collaborative efforts to improve Mainers’ health, strengthen families, and promote active lifestyles for residents of all ages.
Priorities:
- Promote opportunities to foster social connection, which enhance quality of life, strengthen communities, and improve public health outcomes.
- Increase the availability of evidence-based wellness programs to prevent and address chronic health conditions, including diabetes, cancer, and obesity.
- Expand programs that address food insecurity.
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We leverage our trusted position in the community, private funds, and volunteers to provide critical services that would otherwise fall to the government. We believe in working with our neighbors to address cross-sector challenges.
Priorities:
- Support the State’s economic development by stabilizing the childcare workforce, which allows parents to fully engage in the labor market and businesses to thrive.
- Promote opportunities to build career readiness skills in young people.
- Protect tax exemptions for charitable organizations that address community needs unmet by government.
